Colman Domingo received a 2024 Best Actor Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Bayard Rustin, a passionate activist and organizer and the architect of the momentous 1963 March on Washington.

Rustin made history and was then virtually forgotten as his unapologetic life as an openly gay man kept him out of history's retelling of the events that changed America and the world.

Domingo is the second openly gay actor ever to receive an Oscar nod for playing a gay male character. The first was Ian McKellan for his role as James Whale in Gods and Monsters (1998). Out actor Jodie Foster is also nominated this year for her supporting role in Nyad where she plays a lesbian character.

Chillfest is partnering with Stonewall National Museum & Archives (SNMA) for a monthly Film Club. Chillfest programmers, John Catania and Charles Ignacio select films for members to screen at home and then meet on Zoom to discuss and critique. Zoom link information will be provided after joining the group.
