Begun in 2005 by John Catania and Charles Ignacio, Chillfest is dedicated to screening moving image art forms that express and celebrate the LGBTQ+ experience, and to recognizing the creative work of LGBTQ+ filmmakers. Chillfest is a sponsored project of New York Foundation for the Arts, a 501(c)3 organization.​
